Principal's Message
Welcome to Summer Vacation! Despite the oppressive heat of the last week we have endured. Many people assume that this whole building is air-conditioned and that is not true. There are a few areas which are air-conditioned but they are not the classrooms. Particularly the upstairs classrooms can reach temperatures that tease the 100 degree mark, certainly not conducive to productive instruction. If your children came home with stories about classes taking place in the corridors they were absolutely accurate. That is where a semblance of air movement was happening. We have also had the air-conditioning technicians spending several hours here as they attempt to resurrect our aging system, so the areas that are intended to be air-conditioned will be.
We extend our very best wishes to our four retiring teachers: Mrs. Courtemanche, Mrs. Roscioli, Mrs. Rusiecki, and Mrs. Brennan. Many students and families have benefited in countless ways from the efforts of these fine educators. We will all miss them and we hope only good things will follow them on their next life adventure!
With these departures we are also looking to make some other staffing transitions within our building. Mrs. Halasz will be moving to join our First Grade teaching team. Ms. Jaskowski will be moving to join the Second Grade Team, Mrs. Morin will assume an all week Grade Two classroom position, and Mrs. Bourgoyne will continue to share her teaching assignment with a teacher yet to be hired. Grade Three, will be staffed by Mrs. Rainaud moving from second grade, Mrs. McKusick moving from Fourth Grade and Ms. O'Rourke, Mrs. Milligan will be moving to a Grade Four teaching team to join Mrs. Kurr and Mrs. Pratico. Mrs. Pratico will be sharing her classroom position with Ms. Slowaski, who will spend half of her day in Grade Four and half of her day with Title 1 instruction responsibilities. Mrs. Beaudry will be shifting her Special Education responsibilities from the Fourth Grade to the Primary Grades Support team. She will be joined by Mrs. Lavelle who is moving from a Pre-School position to the Special Education Primary Team. Ms. Taylor will be moving from the Primary Special Education Team into the Pre-School teacher position. At this point we are also hoping to be able to hire two additional Special Education teachers to complete our staffing. We are very excited to continue to develop strong instructional teams to ultimately offer your children a high caliber of supportive education experience.
Have a safe, injury free summer. Stay Hydrated!
