Welcome!

"For all children at all ability levels, the arts play a central role in human development: cognitive, motor language, and social-emotional development.  The arts serve to motivate and engage children in learning; stimulate memory and facilitate understanding; enhance symbolic communication; promote relationships and provide an avenue for building competence."
                                                           -Goals 2000 Art Education Partnership

The Elementary Art Program in the Quaboag Regional School District provides children with and opportunity to experience a variety of methods, materials, and techniques - from drawing and painting to sculpture, printmaking and collage.  Children will become familiar with the Elements and Principles of Design and appropriate vocabulary, which will enable them to intelligently discuss their own artwork and other's in class critiques.

Children will learn about art through history - from cave paintings to the many art movements of the past few centuries.  Famous artists and art from many global cultures serve as inspiration for art activities.  Children will investigate the role of art and artists in their community.  Art activities also support many classroom studies such as Egyptian Murals and Ancient Native American Printmaking.

Above all else, this art program is designed to inspire your children to be their most creative, nurture talents and provide opportunities for success for all students.  I hope you enjoy your children's artwork as much as they have enjoyed creating it, and I have enjoyed guiding them through the process.
