2009-2010 Guidance for Schools Facing High Absenteeism due to Influenza-like-Illness: This is meant to provide guidance about how to limit transmission of the flu among students and staff. Of note, there is a very strong recommendation that schools consult with their local board of health and/or DPH prior to making a decision to close. DPH is willing to provide individual consultation to school districts who need to discuss their unique situation. Click here for more information

H1N1 Vaccine Distribution in Massachusetts

By the end of this week, more than 660,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine will have been distributed to providers in Massachusetts – just the tip of the iceberg of the total 3.5 million doses we expect to receive this flu season. However, to put things in perspective, those 660,000 doses are enough to vaccinate just 10% of the state’s population.
