School Cancellation/ Delayed Opening/Early Dismissal
It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to determine whether it is appropriate to send their children to school during inclement weather when school is in session. Schools in the Regional School District will only be closed when transportation by school bus is determined to be unsafe by school officials, local police, and town highway departments.
Announcements concerning the cancellation of school, delayed opening of school in the morning, or early dismissal of students are made through the following media:

Delayed Openings are used as an alternative to canceling school. Announcements of delayed openings are usually made by 6:30 A.M. Cancellation of afternoon Project LEAP and Kindergarten sessions is usually announced by 11:00 A.M.
Monday Morning Delayed Opening - Morning sessions of Project LEAP (preschool) and Kindergarten at Warren Community Elementary School and West Brookfield Elementary Schools are canceled.
Tuesday - Friday Morning Delayed Opening - Morning sessions of Project LEAP (preschool) are canceled.
Monday Early Dismissal - Afternoon sessions of Project LEAP (preschool) and Kindergarten are canceled.
Tuesday - Friday Early Dismissal - Afternoon session of Project LEAP (preschool) is canceled.
Please do not telephone school offices, police or fire departments, or radio stations since telephone lines are needed during winter storms to coordinate operations. It is recommended that parents arrange for children to have a key to the house or stay at a neighbor's house if parents are working or not at home. Middle and high school students are released before elementary age children for safety purposes.
